What you will be doing in the role of Specialist, Grassroots Digital Advocacy
Empowered by our expansive grassroots network, Komen is leading the fight for those impacted by breast cancer locally, in our states and in Washington, D.C. Komen works to identify, through a transparent and broad-based, intensive vetting and selection process, the advocacy issues that have the greatest potential impact on Komen’s mission. The Specialist, Digital Advocacy, supports and promotes Susan G. Komen’s online advocacy initiatives related to breast cancer and public health policy. This individual will provide project management support for digital strategy for local, state and federal grassroots legislative campaigns to ensure policy and advocacy priorities are promoted digitally and will utilize digital channels to support advocate engagement programs and online recruitment efforts to grow Komen’s grassroots advocate database.
What you will bring to the table
Develop and implement innovative and strategic digital advocacy efforts designed to build and retain grassroots advocates as well as the recruitment of new advocates.
Manage Komen’s Center for Public Policy social channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
Maintain online advocacy engagement platforms, coordinating action alert campaigns and communications.
Manage a weekly/monthly calendar that aligns content across our communications channels and coordinates with Komen’s other communication channels.
Identify volunteers to participate in multimedia bank of personal stories used in support of state and federal campaigns.
Create compelling digital content that drives engagement, including infographics, videos and digital imagery for use on various social platforms and websites.
Monitor and effectively leverage social media tools, trends and applications
Assist in the creation of email campaigns and monthly newsletters.
Oversee and maintain Advocacy section content of komen.org.
Track and evaluate online engagement to ensure successful completion, impact, and growth, and reports metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
Promote an organizational culture that values trust, commitment to the mission, scientific integrity, and professional and organizational growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.
We know you will have and be able to
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, political science, government affairs, communications or another relevant field.
3-5 years of direct experience (via work experience or internships) in federal, state or grassroots advocacy.
Prior experience with social media, digital advocacy, graphics development and/or digital training platforms (e.g. Facebook, X, Canva, VoterVoice, Quorum).
Ability to work independently, meeting strict deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
Solid organizational skills and advanced-level proficiency with MS Office products.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required for effective interaction with advocates.
Ability to travel up to 25% for annual team meetings, all-staff meeting, grassroots events.
We would love if you also have
Working knowledge of the breast cancer public policy and advocacy environment.
Experience working with volunteers and/or volunteer management.

Approximate salary of $49,000 – $65,000; exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s skills, experience and geographic location.
