I used to think the only way to be an effective leader in the community was to sacrifice my mental health to prove a point or show my worth. Now, I am aware of how important my mental health is in regard to enhancing my sustainability in my community. Mentally, I feel more at peace knowing a program like Public Allies has taught me the true value of expressing myself in a way that can boost effective collaborations while acting responsibly with public and personal trust.
