Ms. Terrell becomes the first alumni and first Black woman to hold the CEO title, bringing a bold vision to the 30-year-old social justice non profit.
The election of two accomplished Black women alumni leaders is part of a broader commitment by the board to lead the rebuilding and re-imagining of Public Allies by bringing new talent, voices, knowledge, and lived experiences into the governing body.
These latest additions are the first step in re-envisioning board membership, purpose, and culture for an organization that has been committed to social justice and racial equity for 30 years.
For the 2022-2023 service year, the following Public Allies sites will be operating its signature 10-month AmeriCorps apprenticeship program: Arizona, Central Florida, Chicago, Connecticut, Delaware, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New Mexico, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, and Wisconsin (Milwaukee and Racine/Kenosha).
Jenise hires two members of her leadership team, marking the return of two strong leaders to Public Allies. Elodie Baquerot Lavery will serve as Acting Chief Operating Officer and Ashley Lee will serve as Chief Programs Officer.
Jenise has deep knowledge of and appreciation for our AmeriCorps apprenticeship program. Her commitment to Public Allies values and her enthusiasm for bringing alumni together for greater local and national impact, makes her the right leader for Public Allies now.
