Milwaukee WI – Public Allies, a leading nonprofit organization committed to advancing social justice and racial equity by engaging and activating the leadership of all people, is proud to announce the formation of its inaugural Alumni Council. Comprised of 26 diverse leaders from across the country, this esteemed council will work to advance the organization’s mission and foster positive change in their local communities and beyond.
The Alumni Council represents a dynamic group of individuals who have graduated from Public Allies’ Signature 10-month AmeriCorps Apprenticeship Program and made significant contributions in their various, respective fields. Representing the organization’s dynamic network of over 10,000 equity-driven leaders, this council aims to amplify the impact of Public Allies by leveraging the unique skills, experiences, and perspectives of its members to guide and inspire future generations of leaders.
“Our alumni network consists of elected leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, communicators, teachers, parents and so much more,” says Chrisal Valencia, Director of Alumni & Strategic Projects at Public Allies. “Whether they’re one or ten-plus years out from graduating our program, each alum brings invaluable perspective. It’s important to us that we continually involve this multi generational and cross sector group to keep imagining what leadership looks and feels like now and in the future.”
The council members will serve as ambassadors for Public Allies, promoting its values and impact within their networks and communities. About Public Allies
Public Allies is a 501c3 national nonprofit committed to advancing social justice and racial equity by engaging and activating the leadership of all people. Our mission is to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. For over 30 years, we have been a pioneer in recruiting and developing equity-focused change-makers. We have built a powerful network of more than 10,000 proximate leaders who bridge races, ethnicities, socioeconomic levels, and cultures. Holding roles ranging from elected officials to heads of foundations and organizations, they reflect system re-designers, policy shapers, builders of inclusive cultures, and transformers of cultures – ones that accept, value, and view differences that we all bring to the table as strengths.
