Openlands partnered with Public Allies Chicago because their TreeKeepers program needed to expand into new communities and effectively communicate with all the communities it serves.

By creating a Junior TreeKeepers curriculum, Ally Meg Cavanagh (class of 2018-2019), helped Openlands achieve their goal of reaching the new audience of high school students. Furthermore, they are now able to convey these students the importance of trees and tree care, and highlight the career opportunities therein. Meg also helped make inroads in Spanish-speaking communities in Chicago that Openlands has historically not been very successful at reaching.

Full Spectrum Features NFP (FSF) turned to Public Allies Chicago, because they needed to better understand impact of their media within educational communities with a goal of cultivating more discussions and getting direct feedback from audiences.

Reflecting on the work of their Ally, Sofia Villela (class of 2018-2019), FSF Executive Director Eugene Park stated, “We are better able as an organization to implement our community outreach and engagement activities because of the Ally’s service with us over theses past 10 months. We now have new relationships because of [Sofia’s] work, and we can continue to build on these relationships and programming partnerships.”
