Nakeisha Neal Jones, Executive Director
Nakeisha Neal Jones, is a demonstrated changemaker across sectors. A native Washingtonian, Neal Jones has been Executive Director of Public Allies Washington, DC since she led the site’s relaunch in 2010. She completed the Public Allies DC apprenticeship in 1997.
Neal Jones’ deep knowledge of and involvement in the work of community-based organizations and DC government stems from a history of service with nonprofits and the District Government, which included working in DC’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, managing human services strategies for a comprehensive community development initiative, and in the Office of DC’s Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, where she managed grants for millions of dollars in federal funds focused on juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. She was also on the founding team for the Georgetown Executive Nonprofit Certificate Program.
She chairs the Education Committee of the DC Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, and she serves on NPR affiliate WAMU’s Community Council. She recently joined the Advisory Board of the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), led by fellow Public Allies Alum Abel Nuñez. Neal Jones earned her undergraduate degree in public policy from Duke University, and received a masters degree in public policy from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. In 2016, Nakeisha received the John Thompson Legacy of a Dream Award from Georgetown University.
