Shanee Ransom, Site Director

Shanee L. Ransom, MFA (she/her), is the Site Director at Public Allies Connecticut.  She joined Public Allies Connecticut in 2018 as the Hartford Program Manager and two year later was promoted to Program Director. Shanee assumed responsibility as the Site Director in 2022. Her responsibilities range from managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Public Allies Connecticut to training & development of staff. Shanee has co-created and co-facilitated asset based curriculum centered on developing each individual’s ability to work independently and collectively towards creating a more just and equitable society-using Public Allies signature 10 + 1 Leadership Actions. Shanee has researched, developed, and implemented 13 new virtual training modules– Beloved Community, Civic Engagement & Responsibility, Crucial Conversations, Disability Awareness 101 (co-developed), Immigration 101, Self-Care 101, Time Management: Skills & Resources for Allies, Tips for Serving During a Pandemic, Tips & Tricks for Working Remote, Developing Collaborations, Public Speaking, Increasing Your EQ, and Group Dynamics– that aligned with current professional development trends and increased staff’s capacity by 59% (growing from 22 training modules to 35 training modules) to facilitate innovative, progressive, asset-based leadership training curriculum.

Shanee brings fifteen years of workforce development and program management experience and a strong track record focused on expanding access to education and employment opportunities for individuals who have been traditionally underrepresented and underserved. Prior to joining Public Allies Connecticut, Shanee served as a workforce development specialist, where she leveraged her background in the arts to develop and execute creative strategies in support of a number of programmatic initiatives.

Shanee is a proud member of the Youth Commission for the Town of Windsor, Connecticut, an advisory board member for Capital Community College Liberal Arts Department (Hartford, Connecticut), an Alum of Leadership Development Roundtable and member of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP).  In addition, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Florida A&M University and a Master of Fine Arts in Stage Management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In her free time, Shanee is an engaged member of her community, a prolific playwright and theatre artist as well as a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
