YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS HERE

I used to think in order to be a leader you had to look a certain way as far as race, be a certain age or come from a certain background to be a leader. I now know that as a 24 year old African American woman who is also a mother of two children, there is opportunity to become a powerful leader in the community in any capacity.

I use to think in order to be successful and a leader you had to be highly educated and hold a college degree of some kind. Now I know that your success is not based off of how much education you have, but it’s about integrity and doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

I used to be unsure of what field I wanted to pursue, but since I’ve started with Public Allies I now know that social work is definitely where I belong.

Public Allies taught me a lot about myself and the non-profit industry. PA gave me the confidence to start a career in the non-profit sector.

I used to think I was terrible at public speaking, now I am able to speak publicly without getting nervous.
