In a conversation with her husband on her brand new podcast, former First Lady Michelle Obama speaks passionately about our shared Public Allies mission and all that it brought to her life.
Thanks to her position as the Executive Director of Public Allies Chicago she recounts that “for the first time I felt like a true Chicagoan. I felt the ‘We’ of Chicago.”
Mrs. Obama goes on to say:
That was by far one of the best parts of my career development working with that nonprofit organization [Public Allies], and meeting kids from all over the city and watching them discover each other and discover different parts of the community and start to find their power and their voice.
“And start to find their common stories,” President Obama adds.
