It is with great excitement that Public Allies announces the appointment of Adriana (Nanis) Rodriguez as the new Executive Director of Public Allies Wisconsin. As Executive Director of Public Allies Wisconsin, Nanis will be charged with leading a growing, multi-region program encompassing Public Allies Milwaukee and Public Allies Racine/Kenosha, as well as related alumni programming. Through her leadership, we aim to ensure Public Allies remains the premier developer of and pipeline for diverse, talented civic change agents in Wisconsin. Her first day will be Monday, July 26th.
“As a fellow Public Allies Milwaukee alumna, I am thrilled to see one of our own ascend to this role,” said Jenise Terrell, Public Allies Vice President of Programs. “This is a critical role within the PA network and I think Nanis will beautifully carry on our historically impactful work in Milwaukee.”
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Nanis is a proud Public Allies alumna. She then continued to stay connected to the organization as a Program Manager and volunteer facilitator. Currently, she is working on her doctoral dissertation exploring youth organizing in the city. She has dedicated over 15 years to building learning spaces that are anti-oppressive and reduce the perpetuation of harm through learning and community building. She and her fiancé, Amanda, are the proud mothers of their 3 month old daughter, Alis Gloria, and their four dogs, Nala, Nox, Blue and Buddy.
From Nanis: “I am thrilled to be stepping into this role with Public Allies and excited for what we’ll accomplish at PA Wisconsin! I approach all of my work from an intersectional analysis lens, and aim to create spaces for multiple marginalized identities to be heard and honored. Public Allies’ values and mission align perfectly with this and I could not be happier to once again be a part of this team.”
